Halal Industry is preparing for January 2024 change

.
TSE Global General Manager Hüseyin Alper Türedi: "Nothing will ever be the same again! The 'Halal' certification sector in Turkey is entering a new era. Some regulations regarding the Halal Accreditation Agency No. 7060 will come into force in January 2024. There are only a few days left for editing. With the study, companies importing products with halal certification to Turkey will no longer be able to import goods into the country without being accredited by the 'Halal Accreditation Agency' (HAK). Anyone who wishes will not be able to sell their product to the Turkish market with any 'Halal' label.
TSE Global General Manager Hüseyin Alper Türedi made striking statements about the 'Regulation on the Import of Products with Halal Conformity Certificate'. Türedi noted that Turkey has created a HALAL accreditation within itself and has brought a standard for foreign companies like a passport. Türedi said, “Certification is a weapon for countries to protect themselves, in this sense it is a passport. Countries abroad have done what they do for their own companies, in a way that also protects our country's producers. It will be an important development for our people. "I think we will bring it to an end, hopefully, and hopefully it will be beneficial," he said.
There is Change in the Industry
The 10th Organization of Islamic Cooperation Halal Expo and the 9th World Halal Summit are being held in Istanbul. The event hosts more than 500 buyers and nearly 50 thousand visitors from all over the world. TSE Global took part in the event held under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey with its stand. General Manager Hüseyin Alper Türedi answered the questions of the press members here. Türedi said that a new era has begun with the successive regulations made in the sector. Stating that Turkey has made some regulatory changes in the 'Halal' sector, Türedi said, "As a result of the change in the law published in the issue dated June 4, 2022, all organizations that issue halal certificates for products and services to be offered to the domestic market must be accredited by the Authority after a one-year transition period." "It has been transformed," he said.
The Question of Is It Really Halal Will Be Answered?
Stating that the regulations will also answer the question "Are they really halal?" for products sold with halal labels in Turkey, Türedi said, "Organizations that know the meaning of halal and give importance to halal will dominate the sector. In general, European organizations operating in the halal sector. We now need to have a say in our own country. "Our companies headquartered in Türkiye need to be effective," he said.
Stating that there will be changes in the sector, Türedi said, “The quality standard for both companies and manufacturers will increase and Turkey will probably become a very important market in the next five years. "Hopefully, we will probably enter a period where we can penetrate the European market more," he said.
Türkiye Will Become a New Power in the Certification Field
He made statements regarding the future of the sector, stating that TSE Global is a complementary institution to the evaluation activities of the Turkish Standards Institute and especially one that continues its activities abroad. Stating that Turkey will come to a prominent place in the world in 2-3 years in this field, Türedi said, “All of these are proportional to the power of our republic of Turkey. The sector in Turkey will not accept this deficit. I hope that great global actors will emerge in Turkey. I think the process will continue within 2-3 years. Turkish Standards Institute is already a global actor. Of course, the new areas brought by conformity assessment may need to show its strength in other areas as well. "In this sense, I hope that TSE global and perhaps other companies will also reach certain points in this sense in the near future," he said.
Türedi said, “We want to follow the route of our exporters,” and made the following assessment; “When we follow the route of our exports, we aim for a situation where our certification has an internationally valid status up to the last point, in all countries.”
Our Technical Experts Will Work in Africa
Türedi said that we will enter a period in which our technical experts will certify Turkish engineers in Europe, America and the African region, perhaps together with local engineers. Stating that they foresee a big change in the sector, Türedi said, “We aim to improve ourselves enough to serve all manufacturers in all continents as TSE globally. We develop strategies to determine how much of the market we can dominate. Believe me, this is about work. It is necessary to think long term. Hopefully, maybe five years from now, I think we will be in a much better situation than we are now. "Both as an institution and as other companies in Turkey, as well as our producers," he said.
