Our country's industrial sector is developing rapidly, and the total number of Organized Industrial Zones (OIZ) will reach 379 in 2022. However, in addition to this increase, more efforts are needed to combat climate change. Within the scope of the Paris Agreement, which came into force in 2016, global efforts are continuing to keep the global temperature increase below 1.5°C. Turkey has set a 41% greenhouse gas emission reduction target in its National Contribution Declaration submitted within this framework, and the need to make more efforts towards this target has emerged.
For this purpose, many sectors and countries are making commitments, preparing road maps and programs, and publishing legislation for the net zero carbon target.
The Ministry of Industry and Technology has implemented the Green OSB Certification System in cooperation with TSE in order for OIZs to contribute to these goals. The main purpose of this system is to ensure that our industrial zones reach international standards by adopting the principle of "Continuous Development" in line with the Sustainable Development Goals. The prerequisites and performance criteria determined for inclusion in the Green OIZ Certification System are evaluated under the headings of OIZ Management, Economic, Environmental and Social Performance.
Continuous development and improvement are essential for our industry and industrialists to progress towards green and sustainability. In this context, we support our industrialists in their green transformation with the Green OSB Workshops we prepare with our competent team.
